Al Molina on trumpet with Al Bent on trombone, Tod Dickow on sax, Larry Chin on piano, Peter Barshay on bass and the great Vince Lateano on drums. This is a great ensemble playing music by Chick Corea, Woody Herman, Horace Silver, Duke Ellington, Monk, Miles and even Blue Mitchell. Highly recommended!!!!!! No Cover Charge.

Westside Jazz Club, lead by the wonderful tenor saxophonist Scott Silverberg, is a collective of innovative jazz musicians performing jazz standards, challenging modern compositions and freshly-updated classics. Yoshis 510 Embarcadero West, Oakland 8:00 PM Showtime….. Lydia Pense and Cold Blood debuted when the Fillmore was at its peak as one of the nation’s musical Meccas. Owner Bill Graham was so impressed with Lydia’s voice and the sound of the band that he immediately signed Cold Blood to his new record label. During the span of six original late-60’s, early-70’s albums, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood helped, along with Tower Of Power, forge their own specific brand of funk/soul and R&B which came to be known as East Bay Grease. The Bow Ties are a group of voracious bluegrass pickers dedicated to precision playing of the masters’ classics, they are happy to bring traditional bluegrass into the hearts of audiences far and wide. Band members include guitarist Yoseff Tucker, Billy Moore on banjo, Jan Purat on fiddle Andrew March on mandolin and Zach Sharpe on upright bass.. If told about a band that consisted of only keyboards and drums, one wouldn’t be faulted for thinking, “Where’s the rest of the group?” But listening to Scott Amendola vs Wil Blades, the funky California-based duo of Wil Blades on Hammond organ and clavinet and Scott Amendola behind the kit—and all fears will be assuaged. Blades’s cutting solos and deep bass lines make for a thick stew of soulful harmony and daring improvisation.
