The High Tide Trio is a sensational super instrumental band featuring Mitch Polzak on guitar and bass, Hank Maninger on guitar and bass, and Les James on drums. Les will not be playing guitar. Hank and Mitch will switch off on guitar and bass. Mitch and Hank will not be playing the drums. The band plays all sorts of interesting guitar instrumentals, including surf, country, jazz, bluegrass, and movie and TV show themes. Highly recommended!!!! N/C

One of the Bay area’s best Django inspired ensembles The French American Quartet plays a mix of gypsy jazz as well as standards by Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael and Gershwin. The group is lead by a great guitarist Steve Froberg supported by Hanna Mingano on violin, Fabrice Urrizalqui on drums, François Egron on bass. Highly recommended!!!!! N/C

The Bow Ties are back at the Amnesia playing great traditional bluegrass. Highly recommended!!!!! N/C

The Patrick Wolff Bebop Quartet is deeply rooted in the bebop tradition established by Bird, Clifford Jordan and Dexter Gordon. Patrick is absolutely my favorite Bay Area tenor player and he leads an outstanding group of musicians..N/C.

The Lucky Horseshoe Bar 453 Cortland Ave, San Francisco 8 PM-Midnight Showtime.. Ed Ivey’s Weekly Blues Jam gets the bar rocking. His weekly jam is really fun. N/C

Steve Lucky & The Rhumba Bums is one of the fun bands in the Bay Area performing vintage jazz, pounding boogie woogies, sultry ballads, and funky-swinging New Orleans R&B. Tonight they focus on giving you the beat to move your feet. Highly recommended!! No Cover Charge…

Vibraphonist Stefon Harris passionate artistry, energetic stage presence, and astonishing virtuosity have propelled him into the forefront of the current jazz scene. Widely recognized and lauded by both his peers and jazz critics, Harris is committed to exploring the rich potential of jazz composition and blazing trails on the vibraphone. Stefon performs with his quintet Blackout featuring Stefon on vibraphone & marimba, Casey Benjamin on alto saxophone & vocoder, James Francies on keyboards, Joshua Crumbly on bass and Terreon Gully on drums. The Freight & Salvage 2020 Addison St, Berkeley 8:00 PM Showtime.. The Revelers are a Louisiana supergroup made up of founding members of the Red Stick Ramblers and The Pine Leaf Boys. They are unique in that they play all styles of cajun, zydeco, swamp pop, country, blues and Americana equally well. There is no leader and everyone sings and writes music. As individuals, they are each in high demand having performed and recorded with Natalie Merchant, Linda Ronstadt, Preston Frank, Walter Mouton, Mamadou Diabate, Dirk Powell, Cedric Watson and Tim O’Brien to name a few. As a group they play with a sense of empathy and depth that can only be fostered after years of making music together. Simply put, The Revelers are the next Louisiana supergroup. The folk punk band from hailing originally from Milwaukee first burst upon the scene in the early 80s when they first presented their snarky, sassy blend of folk and punk, paving the way for future groups like Against Me! and Andrew Jackson Jihad. Starting with their classic self-titled 1983 LP, the Femmes, this great band soundtracked awkward teenage angst with cheeky humor and honest simplicity musically and lyrically for almost two decades. The Steve Lucky Carmen Getit Trio Valentine’s Day Show. I love the trio because it showcases the great musicianship of Steve and and Carmen’s vocals are reminiscent of Dina Washington, Ruth Brown and Etta James. Highly recommended!!!! N/C..

The Backroom 1984 Bonita Ave, Berkeley 8:00 PM Showtime… Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the Dynamic Divas of The Bay Area featuring three outstanding vocalists in an extraordinary night of music, the passionate and rhythmic Vasleriana Quevedo, Roberta Donnay leader and founder of the Prohibition Mob, a terrific band dedicated to the music of the 20’s and 30’s and the elegant singer with a sensuous three-octave vocal range Kay Kostopoulos. Fifth Street Farms 1517 Fifth Street, Berkeley 7:30 Showtime.. Singer and breakneck acoustic guitarist George Cole is a session musician, and guitarist who fronts his own Gypsy jazz/Uptown Swing band and since early 2014 has been the guitarist for the David Grisman Quintet. Cole lives in a musical world all his own, a world in which Django Reinhardt, The Ramones, Nat King Cole and Doc Watson get equal billing with Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Willie Nelson and the Great American Songbook. Moes Alley 1535 Commercial Way, Santa Cruz 9:00 PM Showtime.. One of the great Jamaican roots reggae bands of the 1970’s The Gladiators has released some of the most mythical songs of Jamaican reggae and many of their songs have become classics of the reggae such as Mix Up and Roots Natty Roots. The Gladiators had already released more than 40 albums. Their lyrics are often militant and the very recognizable vocal harmonies are unquestionably a major part of the success. Great opportunity to see this legendary band. Highly recommended!!!!! $25 Cover Charge..
