Club Deluxe 1511 Haight St, San Francisco 6:00 PM-9:00 PM Showtime… The High Tide Trio is a sensational super instrumental band featuring Mitch Polzak on guitar and bass, Hank Maninger on guitar and bass, and Les James on drums. Les will not be playing guitar. Hank and Mitch will switch off on guitar and bass. Mitch and Hank will not be playing the drums. The band plays all sorts of interesting guitar instrumentals, including surf, country, jazz, bluegrass, and movie and TV show themes. Highly recommended!!!! N/C

Local Edition 691 Market St, San Francisco 8:00 PM-11:00 PM Showtime.. Cosmo Alleycats is one of my favorite Bay Are jazz ensembles. The Alleycats are so good and so much fun and one of the better jazz bands in the Bay Area. Highly recommended. N/C

Mr.Tipples 39 Fell St, San Francisco 7:00 PM-10:00 PM Showtime.. For almost tow decades Adam Shulman has been a staple of the San Francisco Jazz scene. He is a great pianist, composer and arranger. Adam will be performing with his trio. Highly recommended!!!!! No cover Charge..

The Freight & Salvage 2020 Addison St, Berkeley 8:00 PM Showtime.
Ricky Scaggs & Kentucky Thunder is one of the great bluegrass band in the known universe led by one of the great string instrument virtuosos of his generation. The band features an all star lineup that includes Ricky on mandolin and vocals, Paul Brewster on tenor vocals and rhythm guitar, Russ Carson on banjo, Jake Workman on lead guitar, Mike Barnett on fiddle, Dennis Parker on baritone vocals and guitar and Jeff Picker on bass and bass vocals. The Patrick Wolff Bebop Quartet is deeply rooted in the bebop tradition established by Bird, Clifford Jordan and Dexter Gordon. Patrick is absolutely my favorite Bay Area tenor player and he leads an outstanding group of musicians.. Highly recommended!!!!!! N/C.

The Lucky Horseshoe Bar 453 Cortland Ave, San Francisco 8 PM-Midnight Showtime.. Ed Ivey’s Weekly Blues Jam gets the bar rocking. His weekly jam is really fun. Highly recommended!!!! N/C

The Valencia Room 647 Valencia Street, San Francisco 9:30 PM-Midnight Showtime.. Cosmo Alleycats is one of my favorite Bay Are jazz ensembles. The Alleycats are so good and so much fun and one of the better jazz bands in the Bay Area. Highly recommended!!!!! N/C

Cherish The Ladies is the Grammy Award nominated Irish-American supergroup that formed in 1985 to celebrate the rise of extraordinary women in what had been a male-dominated Celtic music scene. Celebrating their 35th anniversary, Cherish The Ladies has shared timeless Irish traditions and good cheer with audiences worldwide. They’ve brought their signature blend of virtuosic instrumental talents, beautiful vocals, and stunning step dancing to the White House, the Olympics. The Cottontails are one of San Francisco’s most exciting musical groups, playing a wide range of styles ranging from 20’/30’s Gatsby-era jazz, classic 40’s swing, and vintage 50’s/60’s R&B. This is a great intimate setting to see this outstanding ensemble with the great Karina Denike on vocals, Michael McIntosh on piano, Sam Rocha on bass, and the irrepressible Randy Odell on percussion. Le Colonial 20 Cosmo Pl, San Francisco 7:00 PM-10:00 PM Showtime. The Steve Lucky Carmen Getit in a rare performance without the “Rhuba Bums”. I love the trio because it showcases the great musicianship of Steve and and Carmen’s vocals are reminiscent of Dina Washington, Ruth Brown and Etta James. Highly recommended!!!! N/C…

Jinx Jones is one of the great guitar virtuosos of the Bay Area. I love the way he seems to move seamlessly from rockabilly to jazz to twang and back again, sometimes in the same song. Highly recommended.. N/C

The Freight & Salvage 2020 Addison St, Berkeley 8:00 PM Showtime. Portland based Tumbledown House, a self described modern speakeasy, saloon jazz, parlor pop and Tom Waits in a cocktail dress ensemble. Whimsical, story-based songs are delivered by velvety vocal powerhouse Gillian Wolfe over a blend of vintage jazz, blues, tango, and klezmer. Tumbledown House has supported acts such as Crooked Still, Brandi Carlile, and Keller Williams, and recorded their second album with members of New Orleans’ Dirty Dozen Brass Band. It honors the groove, the conversation, the game, and the women that made jazz a social music. It features four musicians that have been at the forefront of American music for nearly 20 years Jenny Scheinman on violin, Carmen Staaf on piano, Tony Scherr on bass and Allison Miller on drums. Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society 311 Mirada Rd, Half Moon Bay 4:30 PM Showtime. Terrance Blanchard & The E-Collective is the revolutionary ensemble that thrives off the perfect mixture of Blanchard’s genius and the innovations of the four young musical pioneers in the quintet. It was while recording scores for Spike Lee films that Blanchard first dreamt of a band that layered grooves teeming with funk, r&b and blues colors. The bands performers include Terence Blanchard on trumpet, Charles Altura on guitar, Fabián Almazán on piano and keyboards, David Ginyard, Jr. on bass and Oscar Seaton on drums. Cornerstone Craft Beer & Live Music 2367 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley 8:30 Showtime… Singer/songwriter & entertainer Robert Earl Keen is now 30 years and 19 albums into a career that grew from a self-funded and -produced debut album into an acclaimed run of songwriting that’s begotten plenty of beauty. Keen has struck an unusual balance between sensitive story-portraits and raucous barroom fun unified by a mordant sense of humor that strongly influenced the early practitioners of what would become known as alternative country music. Fifth Street Farms 1517 Fifth Street, Berkeley 7:30 Showtime..
John Reischman & The Jaybirds put their own particular stamp on bluegrass, old time and acoustic roots music, with a blend of traditional and modern styles. They also give the impression that they really enjoy playing together. There’s plenty here to please both bluegrass traditionalists and lovers of modern American folk music, especially for those with an appreciation of great harmony singing as well as masterful instrumental playing. Video Pick Of The Week.

Ornette Made In America is Shirely Clarke’s documentary about jazz innovator Ornette Coleman capturing his evolution over three decades. Returning home to Fort Worth, Texas in 1983, it chronicles his boyhood in segregated Texas and his subsequent emergence as an American cultural pioneer and world-class icon. Highly recommended!!!!!!
